2023 Whiteswan Lake Trip Review
A sunny summer weekend in July found 9 fearless adventurers from the RSSC touring the underwater sights at Whiteswan Lake and the surrounding area. The weekend got underway with a Mini-Friday (aka Thursday) evening dive at Heritage lake with a couple of members of the Prince Albert Scuba club showing off one of their local dive sites. Despite high winds, Heritage lake offered ten feet of visibility and an assortment of sunken cars and boats to keep the divers interested.
Friday was off to Zeden Lake. With visions of vintage bottom dwelling survey planes dancing in their heads, our intrepid crew toured the lake by boat. Their best search efforts combined with a couple of dives resulted in no found planes, but there is always next year.
Saturday found our divers ready to explore Whiteswan Lake aboard the pontoon boat operated by George Mueller of The Diving Center in Saskatoon. Once on site everybody grouped into dive teams to explore what Whiteswan had to offer. Boats, an airplane fuselage, and even an old telephone booth, (ask any member of the RSSC board what that is) were on the list of cool things to see underwater.
Sunday was scheduled as travel day home but many still had diving on their minds. A second tour of Whiteswan for some and Heritage Lake for others was a great way to wrap up the weekend. Overall, it was a fun few days with lots of laughs with great friends and dive buddies. As a matter of fact, it was so good that if you look over at our Events page you will see that next year’s trip planning is already underway.
