Diver! Diver! Are you OK?
As scuba divers, snorkelers and water people in general, these are five words that we hope to never hear or have to say. But what if you do have to say them? What if the diver isn’t OK? What do you do next?
If those questions intrigue you then you are potentially an ideal candidate for the PADI Rescue Diver Course. The Rescue Diver course is open to any scuba diver 15 years of age or older who possess the PADI Advanced Open Water certification (or equivalent from other training agencies) and wants to be a better diver and a better dive buddy. You must also possess a recent (within 24 months) First Aid and CPR certification.
While you do learn basic buddy skills and self rescue skills in your Open Water course, the Rescue Diver course expands on these skills and makes you an invaluable member of any buddy team or group dive. During the PADI Rescue Diver course you will learn, among other things;
advanced self-rescue skills,
how to manage tired or panicked divers,
how to respond to distressed divers from shore, boat, dock or underwater,
missing diver search techniques,
how to bring unresponsive divers to the surface and what to do once you get there,
how to administer emergency O2, and
how to generate an effective emergency response plan.
All of this training is done with a combination of e-learning, and in water training, culminating in a Scenario Day that puts your skills to the test. Let there be no doubt, it is a challenging course, but it is also one of the most rewarding courses you will take as a PADI recreational diver.
If this, or any other training, interests you, please contact the RSSC via e-mail (reginascubaclub@gmail.com) or by using the messenger below. We would love to hear from you.
Until next time; Dive Safe. Have Fun. Tell Great Stories.
